At the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Myanmar's Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, offering heartfelt condolences and reaffirming India's commitment to assisting Myanmar in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.
During their meeting, the leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on key areas like connectivity, infrastructure development, and capacity building. Prime Minister Modi expressed India’s unwavering support, emphasizing that the country is ready to help Myanmar through this difficult time.
On social media, Modi shared his thoughts, writing: "Met Senior General Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. I once again extended condolences for the tragic loss of lives and the destruction caused by the recent earthquake. India is doing everything possible to support our Myanmar brothers and sisters in this critical moment."
In addition to his meeting with Myanmar’s Senior General, Modi also held talks with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, where the two leaders discussed expanding cooperation across various sectors. Modi expressed his deep appreciation for the strong friendship between India and Bhutan, highlighting the countries’ collaboration in areas such as trade, infrastructure, and regional security.
Through these interactions, India reinforced its commitment to supporting its neighbors in times of need, further strengthening the ties that bind the countries together.
